That shape above is Singapore, drawn from nothing but the positions of the venues in this dataset — no coastline, no map tiles, just 9,323 points, each one somewhere you can eat or sleep. It is the most honest picture of the country this site can draw, and it is also the reason the site exists: the data is public, and nobody had assembled it into a form you could use.

8,727 places to eat and 596 to stay, across 347 named neighbourhoods.

What this is

Being a city-state, Singapore has no regional layer to speak of — there is one jurisdiction and the geography that matters is the neighbourhood. 319 of the 347 named places here are suburbs or neighbourhoods rather than separate towns, which is why this guide is organised by district rather than by region. The densest are Singapore (1,852), Tanjong Pagar (232), Orchard (157), Changi (152) and Guillemard Circus (148).

That density is worth pausing on. Singapore fits 9,323 venues into a land area smaller than most of the individual cities in this guide, which means the useful question is almost never "what is in this district" but "what is within a few minutes' walk" — and that is the question the neighbourhood pages are built to answer. Distances on those pages are straight-line and small on purpose: a 1 km radius covers a meaningful slice of a city this compact, where in a country like Canada it barely covers one suburb.

4,300 venues carry a cuisine tag (46%). The most common across Singapore are coffee shop (624), chinese (559), japanese (370), burger (321) and indian (242). Those national proportions are the baseline every town page is measured against — when a page says somewhere over-indexes on one thing, this is what it is being compared to.

The balance between eating and sleeping runs 94% to 6% here. Accommodation is thin relative to eating places, which is the signature of a market that feeds its own population far more often than it beds travellers.

On data quality, which sets a hard ceiling on what any of these pages can tell you: 1,923 venues publish opening hours (21%), 1,741 list a website, and 1,183 record step-free access. 310 carry enough detail for a page of their own; the rest are listed on their town pages, because a page with a name and a map pin on it is worth nobody's time.
